Rural Broadband for Arqiva

Logo In common with other countries, the UK faces the problem of how to service the most remote homes and businesses with broadband access.

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, asked SPC Network to compare the costs of delivering broadband using fixed lines, satellite and LTE. Working with SPC Network member, BWCS Ltd, we modelled the cost of serving the most remote geotypes using the different technologies calculating both the capital and operating expenses over a five year period. The results clearly demonstrate the advantages of LTE.

“SPC Network's model of rural broadband rigorously analysed the comparative costs of the three access methods. We have shown the model to various independent parties who have been as impressed as we were. We are therefore very happy with the results of the project” — Arqiva
